Spoiler: doesn't matter nowadays which airline you book, you are sitting in an Air Baltic plane.
On the Ground:
As we had to rebook our flight die to a 3 hour delay of Lufthansa (Frusthansa) we were at the airport 4,5 hours prior departure at the airport.
The agent was simply amazing and super friendly. They helped us tremendously with the rebooking. They were attentive, helpful and talked us through the process until they could find the
booking.
The first time we went through the security check around noon for our Lufthansa flight, they security screening was top. Fast, very friendly and talkative. None of the bag went to second
screening.
The second time we went through, the Security Check for the Air France flight, the security check was a disaster.
Unfriendly, grumpy staff and funny wise all, but really all bags went to second screening even nothing changed.
SkyTeam has no own lounge in Zurich and Air France has contracted the Marhaba Lounge in Zurich.
Marhaba is the smallest lounge at the airport and during our time the lounge was super busy. People were queuing until outside and we could see people drinking and eating standing around in
the lounge. So we decided to use the aspire lounge next door with our priority pass.
Staff at the gate was again super friendly and helpful.
Priority boarding was conducted and boarding was done by zone numbers.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the senior cabin crew member and another crew member.
Once everyone was on board, refreshing towels were distributed.
Inflight:
The seats are comfortable and have a good legroom. The regular European Business Class with a 2/3 seating configuration where the middle seats remains empty on the side with 3 seats and only
one seat on the side with 2 seats is given out.
Announcement from the cabin and flight crew were good and understandable.
After take off, a cold snack was served. The meal was very delicious and the food presentation looked good.
The tray consisted of a cold snack, fresh cheese, a dessert as well as bread and butter.
The
cabin was fully booked but the crew wasn't stressed at all. They were super friendly, attentive and performed a great inflight service.
The Air Baltic Airbus 220 has no inflight entertainment system, just the small screens above every seat row where the map is shown.
No WiFi.
After the flight:
Transiting in Paris CDG wasn't a big issue as we arrived from ZΓΌrich, we didn't have to go through security again but to pass emigration as we left the Schengen area.
Summary:
All in all a good flight with Air France operated by Air Baltic.
I found the Baltic crew more pleasant than they usually are on Swiss flights
A nice crew with a great inflight service on board a new aircraft.
Based on this flight we can recommend Air France for future travels.
