Unfortunately on this flight and on this Airlink Aircraft there is no Business Class available.
We could immediately re-check our bags once we were through customs after arriving from Paris.
The check-in agent was super friendly and helpful. He chatted with us all the time and the process was done in no time. They had two counters open and there was no queue at all for check-in.
There was a small queue at the security screening at the domestic part at JNB Airport. It took us around 5-10 minutes to get through. The staff was super friendly.
No lounge included so we wanted to use the Bidwest Prime Lounge with our Priority pass.
Apparently you are only allowed to enter 2 hours prior departure (which makes no sense as Boarding is somewhere 30-40 minutes prior departure) to the lounge. This leaves you 1 hour 15 minutes
time in the Lounge and that is not worth it at all.
So we skipped the lounge and went to a restaurant for a drink.
Indicated boarding time was 15:25. We were at the gate at 15:05 and boarding started 15:20.
Priority boarding was conducted for PRM and frequent travelers.
Staff was friendly and helpful at the gate.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the cabin crew. she was friendly and smiling.
Inflight:
The Embraer E135 of Airlink has a total of 37 seats in a 1 / 2 seat configuration.
The seats were comfortable and the legrest was actually ok for such a small plane. (more legroom than on LX/LH 320neo.
Once airborne, the crew started with the Inflight service.
Airlink offers all passengers a free snack and drink including wine and beer.
We had the choice between chips, nuts or dried fruits.
The flight attendant on this flight was super attentive, friendly and offered a great service. She was smiling and interacted with the customers.
The
little lavatory at the back of the cabin was super clean and fully stocked.
No
Inflight entertainment and no WiFi available on this flight.
After the flight:
Baggage
delivery in Upington was fast. Checked-in bags were delivered 10 minutes after arrival on the stand.
Summary:
All in all a very good flight with Airlink.
Great inflight product product for such a small plane and a 1hour 15minutes flight.
Friendly Cabin Crew and ground staff.
Based on today's experience we would rechoose Airlink for future travels.
