On the Ground:
As we were in transit in Nairobi and checked through to our final destination, we only had to go through security control again.
Nairobi has a Sky Priority lane, which we were able to use. There was no queue at the Security Checkpoint and it took as less than 5 minutes.
Agents at security check were friendly and helpful.
Transiting in Nairobi is an easy thing and once through security we made our way to the Kenya Airways Lounge.
Nairobi Kenyatta has two Kenya Airways / Skyteam lounges. One is the Simba Lounge right after security and above the duty free area and the other one is the pride lounge right next to gate 17.
We went to the Pride Lounge and we were positively surprised again. Since our last visit, they remodeled the F&B area again and now it is simply wow.
The lounge itself is super modern and is divided in many different areas.
The lounge offers now a huge hot buffet, a live cooking station, self service area, a bread, sweets and desert buffet. Drink wise there is a soft drink station as well as a all alcoholic bar and newly they have a huge coffee bar with a barista, where you can order your coffee to your liking.
All in all a very good business class lounge experience.
Boarding into the separate boarding area started very early.
Real boarding into the aircraft started 45min prior departure according to the boarding pass and the information screens.
As we arrived 40 minutes prior departure the boarding was already on full swing.
Boarding announcements were made by yelling the seat row numbers into the waiting area.
Staff at the gate was just doing their job but otherwise nothing special.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the cabin manager.
The crew was very friendly at the door but no one was present in the cabin whilst boarding.
At the end of boarding they distributed the welcome drink, consisting of 4 different choices of drinks including champagne.
Shortly after the crew distributed the menu cards and took the order for the main meal.

The seats were already equipped with a fluffy pillow, a blanket, some water and an Amenity kit was in the seat pocket.

Inflight:
The Kenya Airways business class on this Boeing 737-800 is a real shorthaul business class in a 2/2 seating configuration and a total of 16 business class seats in.

The seats are very comfortable and offer enough privacy and space. Recline is very good and so is the legroom.

After take off the cabin crew first came around and distributed some hot towels.
After around 25 minutes into the flight they started with the hot breakfast service.
The main meal consisted of fresh fruits, a joghurt, bread and croissants with butter and jam and a hot breakfast meal. They had the choice of 3 different hot meals.
Presentation of the food was good and the quality of the food was good too.
About 1 hour prior landing they passed once more in the cabin with a coffee & tea service.
The cabin crew on this flight was good. They were present in the cabin, were smiling and interacting with the passengers.
Service was very good and very attention to detail driven.

Bathrooms were checked throughout the flight and always refilled. They were always clean.

The aircraft has no more inflight entertainment system and it is not equipped with wifi.
Bring your own device to watch a movie or listen to some music.
Announcements on this flight were both excellent, from the flight deck and cabin crew.
They were clear, perfect understandable and in a perfect volume.

After the flight:

This time, baggage delivery in Johannesburg was a disaster.
Bags started to come 35 min after landing and our last bag arrived 50 minutes after arrival on the stand.
I think it is needless to say that non prio bags came first and all bags mixed until the end.
Our summary:
A very solid and good business class product on this short/middle haul flight.
It isn't the newest product anymore and inflight service isn't the most fanciest one but everything was good and solid.
The crew was really pleasant and did a great service.
