Spoiler Alert:
What a disaster! Terrible inflight experience and if there is another choice I will never ever book them again on a long haul flight.
On the Ground:
Check-in in Munich was super easy and plenty of counters available. No queue at all.
The agent was friendly and helpful and chatted with us during the process.
Once the check-in was done the agent explained which lounge we were entitled to use and where to find it.
Security in Munich was no problem at all and there was no queue.
Agents were friendly any chatty.
Once
through security we headed to emigration and also here no queue. The automated gates were all open.
After
having done all the formalities we headed to our departure area H at Munich Airport and went to the Lounge.
Thanks to our Business Class ticket in combination with our American Express Platinum card we were allowed to use the Lufthansa Senator Lounge.
Staff at reception as well as in the entire lounge was very friendly, helpful and chatty.
The lounge itself is the typical Lufthansa lounge. Timeless, unspectacular but good. The lounge in size is big and they do have a lot of seating space and we had no problem to find two seats
for us.
The F&B product was very good. A nice buffet with cold and hot snack items, a a special salad bar with a signature salad and a full served bar with a big cocktail menu for an airline
lounge.
We were at our departure gate around 10 minutes prior the indicated boarding time and boarding started right on time.
Priority boarding was done as per procedure. Announcements for boarding were clear and understandable.
Staff at the gate was okay, the absolute typical Lufthansa gate agents and everyone who flies often knows exactly what I mean.
They were busier with themselves than with customers.
Luckily two bridges were used for boarding. One for Business Class and one for Economy Class
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the cabin crew.
Other cabin crew members were in the cabin and friendly and helpful during the boarding process.
The seats were already equipped with a very comfortable and fluffy pillow, a comfy blanket and a seat mattress / cover.
In the compartments next to the seat there were some noise cancelling head phones as well as a small water bottle, the Amenity Kit and some slippers.
Once installed in the seat and seated, the crew came by asked for a welcome drink. We were able to choose from fresh orange juice, champagne or the Lufthansa Signature drink "Avionic".
Together with the welcome drink they also served some nuts.
Once everyone was on board, the crew also passed with pajama shirts and the menu card.
Inflight:
The Lufthansa business class on this Airbus A350-900 was the old old Lufthansa business class.
Our Aircraft had 48 seats in a bigger business class cabin between door 1 and 2 with with 36 seats and a small section with 12 seats after door two.
Business Class has a 6 seats abrest in a 2-2-2 configuration.
We chose two seats in the middle of the aircraft for our flight so we both had aisle access.
The seats are lie flat but rather uncomfortable and tight. You have no privacy at all and also no private space.
Sleeping was super uncomfortable and rather impossible due the tight space for your feet and the super tight space for your shoulders.
The seats are rather firm and also the mattress does not really help.
After
take off, once the fasten seat belt sign was switched off, the cabin crew started very swiftly with their inflight service. Departure was at 22:40 local time. Dear Lufthansa inflight team, have
you ever tried and tested your own inflight product as a passenger! I think you have no idea about the awful service and quality you offer!
The crew starts the service with distributing hot towels. They are followed by an aperitif and an amouse bouche.
Then they start with taking the orders for first course and main dish. In row 4!!! of 8 they run out of first course choices as well as hot meal choices. We both were not able to choose our
first and main. They run out of it.
Then they started with the first course and salad as well as the bread. That was served on a tray. I returned my first course immediately when I saw it, as it looked so disgusting like vomit.
Then the crew cleared everything and served the main dish. The food was very low quality. The potatoes/mushroom roulade was super dry and blend. The triple amount of sauce would have been
needed whilst the vegetables were heavily overcooked and over salted. A poor main course.
The crew then cleared and offered Cheese and deserts.
All in all a terrible F&B experience.
Around 2 hours prior arrival in Bangkok the crew served a small breakfast.
The tray consisted of a hot item (the choice was either Kaiserschmarrn or Farmer's Breakfast) a tiny yogurt and some bread and butter. Drinks were offered together with the breakfast.
Dear
Lufthansa, how can you make the main service after a departure of 22:40 local time. It took around 2 hours for the service. People at that time of the day want to sleep. The main service on this
flight should be a big breakfast as we scheduled time of arrival is 14:10 local time.
The amenity is useless. It is one of these kits where you use the toothbrush and throw away the rest. What shall I do with this heart???
The kit itself offers a toothbrush, earplugs, eye mask some lip balm and body lotion, a mint and a refreshing towel.
The inflight entertainment is basic and the screens have a good size and resolution for business class. The screens are touch screens, but it takes a little while until they respond, but the
system was super reliable.
The inflight entertainment is offered in different languages.
Unfortunately Lufthansa did not really have a real blockbuster as movie choice.
Otherwise there is a good choice in movies, music as well as TV shows.
The
Airbus A350-900 would have been equipped with WiFi. Messaging is free and for the rest you pay around 15β¬ to 29β¬ for the entire flight.
Toilets are the next disaster on this flight. As said business class has 48 seats and the aircraft is equipped with 3 bathrooms up front.
Unfortunately the forward lavatory is blocked by the crew and you are not allowed to use it!!!
2 lavatories for 48 pax is not enough and not being allowed to use the forward bathroom is a no go!
Lufthansa even has a placard which can be placed over the illumination sign. If this toilet is for flight crews only, maybe that should be removed from their contracts and given customers
priority. People / customers had to queue for 25-30 minutes in the morning to go to the lavatory.
We felt absolutely unwelcome on board this flight.
Lavatories were clean throughout the entire flight and the cabin crew checked them regularly but they were only stocked once at the beginning of the flight. Afterward they were never
replenished with items except paper towels and toilet paper. The bare minimum!
There
was only a single announcement from the flight deck prior to landing. That one was clear and understandable.
Announcement from the cabin crew were top. Super understandable, right speed and clear. They could have been a little louder though.
Cabin crew on this flight was rather on the bad experience. Two of the four flight attendants were okay and interacted with customers. Two were simply present and did the bare minimum.
Forgetting things and orders.
The purser in this flight in business class, the P1 was simply useless. No smiles, no interactions and please if you are below a HON status, please don't talk to hear, she is not responsible.
We felt so unwelcome.
After the Flight:
Arrival in Bangkok was at a gate position and de boarding was with two jet bridges.
Immigration in Bangkok was smooth and fast, thanks to the priority lane. No queue at all.
Baggage delivery was very slow today. First bags arrived 36 minutes after arriving on the stand.
Priority bags were delivered first.
Summary:
Ground services β check-in, security, emigration, lounge β all fine. Gate staff acceptable.
Onboard:
a complete disaster. Meal loading a mess, quality poor, presentation embarrassing compared to other airlines. Only the drinks menu was okay.
The crew
was a disgrace β two flight attendants and the Purser P1 were not only useless but actively gave the impression that passengers were unwelcome. Out of three lavatories, one locked for βcrew only"
and crew did not let you use it, leaving just two lavatories for 48 passengers.
The
overall feeling: Lufthansa doesnβt want passengers anymore. Crews act like theyβre the priority, not the people paying their salaries. At the same time, Lufthansa charges delusional, sky-high
fares completely detached from the miserable product they deliver.
Result: an absolute catastrophe. Lufthansa has managed to destroy itself βon customer requestβ and is now a shadow of what it once
was. For us: never again if we can avoid it.
