On the Ground:
We arrived around 2 hours prior to the departure time at check-in. As Milan Malpensa has a common Lufthansa Group check-in, all counters were open.
The agent at check in was very friendly and chatty.
Once checked in we made our way to security.
Milan Malpensa Airport offers a dedicated priority lane for business class passengers. There was no queue at all at security. Agents were friendly and talkative. We have now flown so many
times through Malpensa Airport and they really do an amazing job at security control.
The Lufthansa group has it's own lounge in malpensa but we decided to use the priority pass lounge which is better and much closer to the departure gate. So we went to the Monteverdi Lounge
which was right above the departure gate from concourse A.
The lounge was very good, had a great F&B breakfast offer as well as a full bar.
Food was fresh and delicious and the staff was friendly.
We arrived at the Gate 10 minutes prior the indicated boarding time.
The agents at the gate were friendly and priority boarding and all boarding announcements were done exactly by procedure.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the Senior Cabin Attendant.
Once everyone was boarded, some water bottles and refreshing towels were distributed.
Inflight:
The seats are okay in terms of comfort and legroom.
The Airbus A220-300 has a 2/3 seating configuration where in Swiss Business they are only giving out 1 seat on the side with 2 seats and keep the middle seat empty on the side with 3 seats.
After take off, the crew served some sandwiches accompanied by drinks.
For a 30 minutes flight the service would be sufficient, if the service would have been done correctly.
The Cabin Crew from Air Baltic was rather unfriendly and grumpy. They were super stressed and had no idea about the service procedure. The flight attendant distributed "Sandwiches" and when
passengers asked what it is he answered, quote: "no idea, we couldn't figure out what it is". Drinks were. Served in wrong glasses.
They simply messed up the in-flight service. No smiles, no interaction, nothing. Just a cold and unfriendly service.
Announcement from the flight deck were very good. They were clear and understandable.
The announcements from the cabin crew were loud enough but very unclear and not really understandable.
The Airbus 220-300 from Air Baltic has the same micro screens above every 3rd seat row where they showed the safety demo and otherwise nothing.
No WiFi available.
Arrival in Zurich was a disaster. We had an open stand right next to Terminal E, the furthest away from the Terminal possible. Worst position for a late flight full of connecting passengers.
Then there were no Busses available and we had to wait 10 minutes until they arrived. No segregation of Business and Economy passengers.
First
bags were delivered 19 minutes after arriving on the parking position and priority bags were delivered first.
Summary:
All in all rather a bad flight with Air Baltic for Swiss.
The crew was unfriendly, cold and couldn't have cared less about any Swiss Service procedures.
Great airport experience on both ends at the departure and arrival airport.
