Paulβs Hotel Review for the
Aloft Istanbul
Karakoy Hotel
Details:
Duration of stay: 2 nights / weekend trip
General Info:
Aloft Istanbul KarakΓΆy sits in one of the most interesting districts of Istanbul β perfectly placed between Galata, KarakΓΆy, and the Bosphorus.
You can walk to Galataport, the Galata Tower, Istiklal, and the ferry terminals in just a few minutes. Thatβs a serious advantage in a city where distances and traffic can be painful.
The area
is full of cafΓ©s, restaurants, bars, small shops, and old streets with character. Itβs lively without feeling trashy β a very good balance.
The hotel itself is modern, stylish, colorful and has that typical Aloft βurban hipβ vibe. But unlike some Aloft properties that lean toward loud party style, this one mixes fun design with a
more elegant and boutique-like touch.
The property has a total of 107 rooms & suites spread over 8 floors.
Check-in:
Check-in was excellent.
We were welcomed warmly, recognized immediately, and the team had clearly prepared everything. The General Manager as well as the Front Office Manager came to welcome us.
The agent was friendly, interacted naturally, and explained the upgrade to the Savvy Room with private rooftop terrace and Jacuzzi β something that absolutely nailed the first impression.
Smooth process, no waiting.
Check-out:
Straightforward, friendly and warm.
The agent asked if everything was okay and for feedback.
He explained the invoice, and a heartfelt goodbye from everyone at the front office.
Front Desk Staff:
Super friendly, genuine, and interested in the guests.
They greet, they talk, they interact β and they do it because they want to, not because they have to.
Absolutely refreshing for Istanbul, where service can be hit or miss.
The entire team was simply wow.
Marriott Bonvoy Recognition:
Aloft-style recognition can often be βminimalist,β but this property completely broke the stereotype.
We received a fantastic upgrade β not a technical one, but a proper, meaningful upgrade to the Savvy Room with private rooftop terrace and Jacuzzi, and the most phenomenal view over Istanbul
you can imagine. We think that this is probably the best room type in the house. (I would take the savvy room before a suite just for the views).
Breakfast was complimentary, the points choice explained, and we even got extra attention and warm personal interaction.
A fantastic welcome amenity was waiting in the room. A plate with some chocolates, cake and a handwritten card from the GM. In addition there were two bottles of water (still & sparkling)
prepares and these bottles were in addition to the regular ones.
All in all an excellent and impressive strong Bonvoy recognition.
The
points and nights were credited correctly to the Bonvoy account 24 hrs after our stay.
Room / Suite β Savvy
Room with Private Rooftop Jacuzzi:
This room is a showstopper.
Inside, the room is modern, colorful, and has the signature Aloft DNA β but much more premium than many Aloft hotels elsewhere. I would rate it on a much higher level than regular aloft
hotels.
The highlight is obvious:
A huge private rooftop terrace with an outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking Istanbulβs rooftops. Stunning, unique, memorable.
The room
itself is quiet, well designed, and the bed is excellent. Firm but comfy mattress, good pillows, warm duvet β a perfect cosy nights sleep.
The bathroom is functional, bright, and modern β and great in size. Shower pressure and temperature perfect.
The build in closet is another plus.
WiFi is
not the fastest but reliable throughout the entire property.
Housekeeping did a flawless job β clean, neat, no missed spots.
PochΓ© Restaurant
The PochΓ© Restaurant is located in the lower level of the hotel. In summer they have a terrace to sit outside, but now in the cooler month the restaurant is rather small and tiny. They only
have 34 seats in total.
It feels a little cramped and tight and especially if your family / group is bigger than 2 people.
Surprisingly a very good quality and a fantastic buffet presentation for an Aloft.
The buffet includes different bread and pastry, cereals, hit dishes, different cold cuts, salads and olives and some other local Turkish items. Coffee and Tea as well as juices and water are
also available.
Itβs not luxury-level, but definitely above what you expect from an Aloft and much much higher than for example the Aloft Strasbourg we have been.
Talking
to the GM about the size problem of the breakfast restaurant, we learned that they are building a winter garden and then the issue will be solved as well.
We XYZ Bar:
The hotel opened only 3 month ago and it is still waiting for its alcohol license.
In the meantime they serve coffee, tea and non alcoholic drinks.
Unfortunately due to that, the bar is rather dead and there is no real W XYZ Vibe with DJ's and music at the moment.
The property does not know, when they will get the license.
Spa, Gym and Pool/Jacuzzi & Extras:
There is no pool or spa β but if youβre in the Savvy Room, you donβt care.
That private rooftop Jacuzzi is better than any pool they could offer.
The gym may be small, but itβs actually pretty solid.
Modern equipment, everything clean, well-maintained, and definitely enough for a proper workout when youβre on the road.
Youβve got:
β Treadmills, bike & cross-trainer for the cardio lovers
β A decent multi functional strength station
β Dumbbells, kettle-bells, balls, bandsβ¦ the full βkeep-me-fitβ package
Perfect for a quick burn, recharge, and back out into the city.
Social Media:
Outstanding.
They interact, re-post, communicate, and genuinely appreciate the engagement.
Many hotels promise it β this one actually does it.
One of the best social media interactions we have ever had with a hotel.
Summary:
Aloft Istanbul KarakΓΆy surprised us in the best way. It offers a higher hospitality level than any other Aloft we have been.
Itβs not a luxury hotel, but it hits all the right notes:
- Perfect location
- Warm, genuine staff
- Strong elite recognition
- Modern rooms
- Extremely cool Savvy Room with private terrace & Jacuzzi
- Good breakfast
- Great design & vibe
If you want a stylish, comfortable, modern place in one of the best areas of Istanbul, you canβt go wrong here.
We can absolutely recommend Aloft Istanbul KarakΓΆy and we will go back again without hesitation β especially for that Savvy Room.
