Upington International Airport is simply cuteness overload!
Our flight today again was operated by an all economy class Embraer 135 aircraft.
There are just 3 check-in counters available and a separate ticket / sales office.
With a max of 37 PAX possible on the operating aircraft, checkin was a breeze. The check-in agent was super friendly, helpful and very efficient.
Once checked in, we went to the coffee shop for a cold drink because after security there is only a small waiting area, as the airport has only one domestic gate.
Next to the coffee shop there is also a garden "Koh Samui Airport Style" with seating area, a pond and a smoking section.
Security opened 1 hour prior departure and also here no real queue. The staff was super friendly.
After the security there is just a small seating area in front of the gate. No toilets or anything else airside of the airport.
Indicated boarding time was 17:25 and boarding started around 17:35.
Staff was friendly and helpful at the gate.
At the
aircraft door we were greeted by the cabin crew. she was very welcoming, friendly and smiling.
Inflight:
The Embraer E135 of Airlink has a total of 37 seats in a 1 / 2 seat configuration.
The seats were comfortable and the legrest was actually ok for such a small plane. (more legroom than on LX/LH 320neo.
Once airborne, the crew started with the Inflight service.
Airlink offers all passengers a free snack and drink including wine and beer.
On today's flight we had the choice between a chicken or beef sandwich accompanied with drinks.
The chicken sandwich was very tasty, fresh and delicious.
The
flight attendant on this flight was super attentive, friendly and offered a great service. She was smiling and interacted with the customers.
The
little lavatory at the back of the cabin was super clean and fully stocked.
No
Inflight entertainment and no WiFi available on this flight.
When we arrived in Johannesburg, there was no ground crew and bus ready and we had to wait 15 minutes on stand until someone arrived and the doors could be opened to disembark.
Baggage
delivery in Johannesburg was fast. When we got to the baggage belt 20 minutes after arrival, the bags were already turning.
Summary:
All in all a very good flight with Airlink and I am impressed with the offered service.
Great inflight product product for such a small plane and a 1hour 15minutes flight.
Friendly and charming Cabin Crew and ground staff.
Based on today's experience we would rechoose Airlink for future travels.
